Leadership Centre

ReQuest and Green Visions have embarked on a new project to connect-the-dots within our common vision. We have recently applied to the World Bank's 'developmarketplace' grant to create southeast Europe's first ever Tourism and Environment Leadership Centre

Eco Village Network

ReQuest was the main partner in this IUCN funded eco-village network project. We continue our focus on the Vranica Mountain area and the well-preserved traditional villages found throughout the mountain range. Our vision of this network of eco-villages is to re-educate community members on the value of ecological living, offer service provider training, create eco-tourism products that link villages with clusters of B&B and other services, and to develop promotional material aimed at attracting both domestic and international visitors to the region.

Konjuh Nature Park

Konjuh has been Munever's favourite mountain since childhood. At the beginning of photography career he spent a lot of time on Konjuh Mountain, capturing the majestic beauty of this little known mountain in Bosnia's northeast. He took is photography passion one step further and decided to start a campaign to protect Konjuh from illegal deforestation and proclaim it as a nature park. His initial idea was greeted with much skepticism by local authorities, but several years later the Konjuh Nature Park idea has reached the Tuzla Canton parliament.

Youth Training

One of our most precious resources in BiH are the future generations that will lead us to hopefully better horizons. ReQuest is dedicated to assisting youth and vulnerable groups by providing them with the necessary tools to empower themselves to take action now. Our youth training activities have been mainly focused on the Vranica Mountain area and the community of Fojnica. We have provided guide training, mapping and action plan training, service provision training and environmental education to youth organizations.

Photography Camp

Photography is a very underestimated media throughout the region. It is said that a good photo is worth a thousand words. That is the belief of ReQuest's co-founder Munever Salihovic. Munever has tirelessly worked on both novices and top professionals from around the region to learn more about photography but also on how to photograph wildlife and nature. By bringing photographers to these protected areas for photographing purposes we are able to raise the profile of BiH's natural resources through the powerful means of photography. The most recent photography camp on Vranica brought photograhers from Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro to learn new techniques on nature photography. Over 20 people were trained and took beautiful photographs of our region back to their home countries and into local magazines and newspapers.

Eco-Art Exhibition

The Ministry of Culture and Sport for Canton Sarajevo supported this cross-Atlantic exhibition at the Alija Derzelez House, the oldest Ottoman House in Sarajevo. Chuck Carbia, Kelly Boehmer and Munever Salihovic exhibited three types of art media: painting, textile sculpture, and photography. This green art event was the first of its kind in Sarajevo bringing American and Bosnian artists together under the theme of eco-art and the environmental challenges we face as a global community.
