In the fall of 2005 NGO Request along with NGO Most from Žabljak, Montenegro and IUCN for SEE had the idea of forming a Eco Villages in few locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Within a year the idea grew to a project that now has a fair chance to become a reality.
To the group of three initiators, another organizations is joined – Orion & Eos from Brus, Serbia. We became a team that has developed a two year transbondary project of Eco Village Network which is funded by Austrian Development Agency (ADA) from Wienna.
The project will take place in three countries that have once been the Republics of Yugoslavia, and they all share mutual border. Guided by the same idea, the eco villages will be formed and developed during the next two years. The crucial factor will be the education of local inhabitants, exchnging information and experiences within three counties and creating potential for further development of the areas.
The whole project is under umbrella of global project Countdown 2010 – The European Program Framework. Guided by IUCN, the world's biggest conservation union, we expect to meet all of our goals and develop new ideas during the implementation of the project. |
